  3. it didn’t matter how late we got there, leaving that shit behind was good enough, being there was good enough. We are drawn into disbelief, into laziness, into not doing things just because there’s apparently little time to do so. But sometimes we get a chance to remember how meaningful a few hours can be in the right place with the right people. Ten to six, daylight saving time. Perfect light, perfect temperature. Green all around. No honks, no phones, nothing but nature. There’d been a long time since my hands felt the texture of the stone. Hands hurting. Fear. Happiness and mosquito bites

The mirror reflects all things, beautiful or horrible, and the dualistic mind gets caught up in the reflections, judging what it likes and dislikes, becoming emotionally charged about relatively inconsequential matters. The Dzogchen teachings advise us not to identify with the passing reflections but to recognize that our true nature of mind is the mirror’s infinite capacity for reflection.

  15. on that particular morning even though the purpose of his visit was to teach the actual reason he went there was something else entirely. Higher intentions were set for him, to be of help more than anything. Only than he could realise what was really going on between them, what was the real exchange. At least someone believed in him and he could be of help to somebody. The interesting part was that the process of getting ready for it, now he noticed, was hardly at all up to him. He was only the channel and he was being led by other forces. Everything he brought had a specific message or a valuable lesson regarding exactly what needed to be dealt with. He enjoyed now, being able to consciously notice it. Still he had his own issues, and on that particular day it was not about him, but about her and helping her.
